June 18 sees the launch of The Pod, a major new website for schools built by Guardian Professional in collaboration with EDF Energy, London 2012 and The Eden Project.
The Pod aims to be the first port of call for teachers, pupils, parents and governors who want to make their school greener and more sustainable. It offers a range of practical activities, specially designed to help schools lower their carbon footprint and cut down on energy and water usage. The activities will range from small-scale projects such as switching off unnecessary lights to large initiatives such as installing solar panels. Schools will be able to track their energy savings. The Pod will also aim to benefit the wider community by encouraging pupils and their parents to make similar changes in their own homes.

The Pod adds to the remarkable portfolio of sites for young people created by Guardian Professional, including 10 Downing Street and DirectGovKids.
